Flambards

The former Flambards Theme Park, Helston, Cornwall (Permanently Closed)

Back to Cornwall Attractions

Clodgey Lane, Helston, Cornwall TR13 0QA

For nearly half a century, Flambards was one of Cornwall's best-loved family days out - "certainly more than just a theme park," as its old copy put it, with something to do whatever the weather. The theme park side built its reputation on thrill rides including the Hornet rollercoaster, the Canon River Log Flume, Thunderbolt and Extreme Force.

Just as central to Flambards' identity were its two large indoor experiences. The Victorian Village was a full-size reconstruction of around 50 Victorian shops and homes that visitors could walk through, while Britain in the Blitz recreated a dimly-lit wartime English street, bomb-damaged buildings and all, to give visitors a feel for life during the Second World War.

Flambards closed permanently in November 2024. The park's operators pointed to the combined pressure of rising costs and falling attendance as reasons for the closure, ending nearly 50 years of operation on the Clodgey Lane site outside Helston.

Flambards' website domain, flambards.co.uk, now redirects visitors straight to Ferdi's Indoor Play's own site - a sign of how much the business at this address has scaled down since the theme park's closure.
