Cornwall Gold, Tolgus Mill, New Portreath Road, Redruth, Cornwall, TR16 4HN  |  01209 203280

Free gold panning, a working tin mill, and Cornwall's largest jewellery showroom

Cornwall Gold occupies Tolgus Mill, the last working Cornish tin streaming mill and a site where tin has been extracted for around a thousand years - Cornwall produced roughly a million tons of the metal during the 19th century alone, and Tolgus was part of that industry. Today the mill is free to enter, with an interactive exhibition walking visitors through the four stages of tin processing - crushing, separating, purifying and, at Cornwall Gold, regenerating the extracted tin into the site's own jewellery collection - plus free guided tours.

Alongside the mill, the site is still home to what began as Cornish Goldsmiths: the largest gold and silver jewellery showroom in Cornwall, with a working jewellery workshop offering bespoke design and repair services. Everything else on site is aimed squarely at a family day out - free gold panning in an undercover stream, the Tolgus Trail walking route, dress-up stations, pottery painting and bear-building workshops, plus bookable Pick-a-Diamond and Pick-a-Pearl experiences for anyone after a more personal souvenir.

The whole attraction is free to enter, with free parking and a dog-friendly, fully accessible site - the Cornish Pantry on site serves food throughout the day, and the venue has picked up Taste of the West and TripAdvisor recognition for it.
