Go Karting in Cornwall

Three outdoor circuits across the county, plus fast indoor karting just over the Tamar in Plymouth.

Cornwall's go karting is very much an outdoor pursuit — there's no permanent indoor track anywhere in the county, but what it lacks in weatherproofing it makes up for with some genuinely large, fast circuits built on former airfields and quarry land, designed to cope with big summer crowds rather than squeezed into a warehouse unit.

The biggest of the three is St Eval Kart Circuit, between Newquay and Padstow, built on part of a former airfield with a track reported at well over a kilometre — among the largest children's and adult karting circuits in the country. Sessions are strictly split by age group, from gentle coin-operated karts for 3 to 6 year olds up to 16-plus "thunderkart" sessions capable of serious speed.

In the south east of the county, Kartworld forms part of the wider Adrenalin Quarry adventure park near Liskeard, so it's an easy add-on to a day that might also include zip wires, a giant cliff swing and an inflatable aquapark. Its 800m all-weather track runs adult, youth and junior sessions, plus electric karts for the very youngest visitors. Over in the west, Coast 2 Coast Karting near Hayle is the local option for St Ives and Penzance, running twin-engine pro karts on a technical, roughly kilometre-long circuit just off the A30.

If you're after something faster, weatherproof, or simply different, Plymouth — a short hop across the Tamar Bridge — now has a genuinely fast indoor option: more on that below.

Before you go

  • Book online in advance wherever possible — some venues, including St Eval, only take online bookings rather than walk-up payment on the day.
  • Minimum height and age restrictions apply at every venue and vary by kart type — check the specific session before booking, especially for younger children.
  • Race suits and helmets are provided, but wearing clothing that covers your skin (long sleeves, trousers) is generally required or recommended.
  • Cornwall's outdoor tracks generally run in light rain, but sessions can be postponed in more extreme weather — check the venue's own policy if conditions look uncertain.
