Land's End Beaches

The Land's End Area is Cornwall's far south-western tip, a granite peninsula of dramatic cliffs, mining heritage and beaches that range from the vast and sociable to the genuinely remote. This guide covers 11 beaches running roughly north to south and then east: the undeveloped Tin Coast beach of Portheras Cove near Pendeen; the boulder coves of Cot Valley and Priest's Cove either side of Cape Cornwall; the huge dune-backed sands of Gwynver, a big-wave surf beach, and Whitesand Bay at Sennen Cove, a working fishing village at England's most westerly harbour; the road-free wilderness of Nanjizal (Mill Bay) with its natural rock arch; the hand-carved granite tunnels and seawatching cliffs of Porthgwarra; the secluded sand of Porthchapel beneath the clifftop Minack Theatre; the white sand, turquoise water and Victorian telegraph history of Porthcurno; the wild, clothing-optional turquoise cove of Pedn Vounder beneath Treryn Dinas; and the living, working fishing hamlets of Penberth Cove and Lamorna Cove, both still home to small day-boat fleets.

Several of these beaches - Nanjizal, Porthchapel, Pedn Vounder and the walk-in approach to Portheras Cove among them - have no dedicated car park and are reached only on foot via the South West Coast Path or a farm track. This is deliberate: the granite cliffs and narrow lanes of the Land's End peninsula have kept much of its coastline free of the larger-scale development seen elsewhere in Cornwall. Whitesand Bay at Sennen Cove holds a Seaside Award for 2026, the only beach in this folder to currently hold Blue Flag or Seaside Award status.
