Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Mawnan Smith near Falmouth and The Helford River |
||||
PERIOD BED AND BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATION Gold Martin, built in 1729, is one of the oldest houses in Mawnan Smith, once the village poorhouse and kiddleywink. It is a home of great character with two king size/twin en-suite rooms both with TV's hairdryers and tea making facilities and an additional single room. You have your own key to come and go as you please. Enjoy breakfast in our conservatory overlooking the garden. We offer traditional or more unusual choices, catering well for vegetarians. Home made bread and preserves plus a wide selection of teas are always available. Relax in our guest living room at any time of the day or take time to sit in the conservatory or garden with views across the fields. A short level walk into the village takes you to the pub, restaurant and shops, also to a working forge and craft centre. We are close to Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens and the Helford River with many coastal and country walks and beaches immediately accessible.
Gold Martin is a great base to explore all of west and central Cornwall with Eden, Heligan and the Tate Gallery less than one hours drive. Falmouth is four miles away and home to the National Maritime Museum. It is a working harbour town with an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants, great sea views and starting point for various boat excursions, around the Fal and Helford estuaries. Your hosts, Clare and Allan, are both designers. Clare is a textile designer and botanical artist. Guests are welcome to visit her in-house studio to view and maybe buy from her range of greetings cards, paintings and prints. Allan is a graphic and web site designer. We ensure a courteous and attentive service and welcome many returning guests.
