NEWQUAY BEACHES
Watergate Bay, Porth -Newquay's Beaches

Newquay is one of the most popular resorts in Cornwall, famous as a surfers' haven as well as for is excellent nightlife, perfect beaches and spectacular coastal scenery.

Newquay airport offers regular cheap flights between many of the UK's major airports making Newquay easily accessible particularly for short breaks.

One of the most popular beaches in the Newquay area is Watergate Bay not just for its fabulous two mile stretch of golden sand, but also for its excellent facilities including Jamie Oliver's restaurant, Fifteen, The Extreme Academy which offers lessons in surfing, kite surfing and kite buggying and the Watergate Bay Hotel.

There is also Fistral beach which is world famous for its excellent surfing conditions and annual international surfing competitions.

Two mile long stretch of west facing golden sands at the foot of steep cliffs. Privately owned and about 3 miles from Newquay itself. There are several paths down to the beach, but most people choose the easier option of accessing the beach through the front of the hotels in the valley.

Good sized beach made up of sand and rocks backed by a sea wall. Popular with families and surfers alike. Overlooked by Newquay Sea Life Centre and Towan Island with its famous suspension bridge.

This is Newquay's largest and most popular beach due to its expanse and golden sands and excellent surfing conditions. Annual international surfing competitions are held here. Also very popular with families. West facing.

A popular north facing sandy beach surrounded by high dunes. The River Gannel enters the sea at the northern edge and should be avoided by swimmers due to strong currents.

PORTH (POLLY) JOKE

A small unspoilt north west facing beach. Just south of Fistral Bay this attractive sandy cove is a 15 minute walk from the car park at Crantock. Access is by an unmade path whcih can be difficult with pushchairs.
