Marazion, Prussia Cove and Praa Sands Beaches

This section of the Cornish coastline offers some fabulous beaches and coastal scenery. One of the most popular beaches is that of Marazion, a long crescent of golden sand overlooking the beautiful Mounts Bay and sheltered by St Michaels Mount.

Further east are the popular beaches of Praa Sands and Porthleven with their miles of golden sand as well as the tranquil, secluded coves of Prussia and Kenneggy.

Penzance is a popular seaside town with many facilities. North of the harbour is a sandy beach which stretches to Marazion at low tide. South west of the harbour there is a pebble & shingle beach with some small patches of sand. The Jubilee Pool, an outdoor sea water swimming pool is available nearby (admission charge). Easy access from parking areas.

LONG ROCK

Western edge of sands that stretch around marazion, although fairly well covered at high tide. Safe bathing and sheltered position. Easy access from adjacent parking area. South facing.

A long crescent of sand and pebble which stretches from Penzance to Marazion and overlooks Mounts Bay. Popular family beach. Easy access from adjacent car park. south west facing. Access to St Michaels Mount via the causeway at low tide or via the ferry when the causeway is under water.

PERRANUTHNOE

South west facing sand and pebble beach. Restricted at high tide. East access from car park via steps or slipway.

Small coves made up of grey shingle and rocks. Attractive scenery. South facing. No facilities.

KENNEGGY SANDS

Secluded sandy beach but no facilities or parking. Accessed via a rocky descent with the help of a support rope and metal ladders. Not suitable for families, pushchairs and wheelchairs.

A mile long south west facing sandy beach popular with families and surfers. Easy access to beach from parking area via a slipway.

PORTHLEVEN

A 3 mile long, south west facing, stretch of sand & shingle, starting at the fishing port of Porthleven and stretching south east to the Loe Bar and Gunwalloe Fishing Cove.

GUNWALLOE CHURCH COVE

Attractive west facing cove of sand backed by sand dunes in front of Mullion Golf Course. Small church located to the northern side. Easy access via a short walk from the National Trust car park.

A large, attractive, sandy west facing cove with dunes. Rocks revealed at low tide. Car park located behind the beach offering easy level access.

POLURRIAN COVE

A large west facing sandy beach flanked by small cliffs on either side. Popular with families. No parking, facilities or toilets, these can be found at Mullion Cove (approx 10 mins walk). Access to the beach is via an unmade track which can be difficult with a pushchair.
