ACCOMMODATION
Each of our two houses has a good-sized sitting room on the seaward
side, including a convertible sofa in No.4 and a convertible futon in No.7. Each
has Freesat television and a wide variety of books and indoor games. The
well-equipped kitchen is all-electric, and includes table and chairs, washing
machine, fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, plentiful crockery,
glassware, cutlery etc. The main bedroom, with double bed, has
a direct view of the bay and beach. The second bedroom overlooks the countryside
and has twin beds at No.4, while at No.7 there are bunk beds and a single bed.
The bathroom includes a basin, bath/shower and toilet. There
is also a selection of children's beach toys. Outdoor furniture is provided for
the patio, which is immediately outside the sitting room. LOCATION This
part of Cornwall is famous for its spectacular coastline of rocky cliffs
and surfing bays. Mawgan Porth is a particular favourite for families
and surfers alike, with its large sandy beach fringed by interesting caves and
rock pools. It is also ideal for coastal walking, while all
the rest of Cornwall's attractions are within an easy day or half-day out by car.
Nearby is Watergate Bay, just two miles down the coastal path, a
popular destination for action sports and host to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen. A similar
walk in the other direction brings you to the dramatic rock formations of Bedruthan
Steps, and a convenient National Trust cafe. Local
facilities within a very short walk of Sandy Court include a pub-restaurant,
cafe, take-away, well-stocked shop including off-licence and deli. There is also
pitch-and-putt, crazy golf, tennis and a newsagent/beach shop with surf hire.
About half a mile in the Newquay direction is an excellent farm shop and cafe.
The nearest Post Office is in the pretty village of St Mawgan, two miles inland,
which also has an ancient church, tea room, pub-restaurant, antique shop, craft
shop, and the highly recommendable Japanese Garden. |
