Welcome to Trevigue Church Cottages

Trevigue has been described as a wildlife haven on many occasions by different eminent naturalists who frequently visit the farm. The vast range of plants and animals to be found on the farm is largely a result of the contrasting environments of which Trevigue consists. A large part of the farm is made up of coastal heathland, situated on the rugged and exposed cliffs, which rise to almost 750 feet at "High Cliff" (the highest in Cornwall).

You have a number of options to enjoy your stay with us in North Cornwall, whether you are a larger group looking to enjoy a farmhouse overlooking ancient woodland or you are after something smaller and cosier for a quiet escape with dramatic sea views.

Enjoy stunning views, beautiful beaches and rambling walks that this
unspoilt area of Cornwall has to offer!

The Old Farmhouse
Sleeps 5 - Tariff from £200 per week

The Old Farmhouse dates back to the 16th Century and retains all the character of ancient North Cornwall and has sensitively been refurbished. A slate courtyard, together with a terraced lawn capture the afternoon sun in front of this charming property.

A beautiful slate flagstone floor, an inglenook fireplace (with woodburner) and a large open plan kitchen are found downstairs. The spacious living area has the original timbered ceiling which adds to the ambience of this wonderful house.

Upstairs this 3 bedroom house comprises a large double room with an amazing vaulted ceiling showing exposed ancient timbers. The twin bedded room is found at the opposite end of the landing. In the centre of the house is a small single room overlooking the garden/courtyard. Opposite this room is a large and well equipped loo/bathroom with shower and heated towel rail.

During the winter the house has full central heating.

It is easy to see why this house was featured in “Country Living” magazine.

Barton Cottage
Sleeps 4 - Tariff from £200 per week

A traditional barn conversion set on the outside of a small cluster of cottages and neighbouring the beautiful St Gennys church. This light, atmospheric cottage has a small enclosed lawn and garden to the rear with superb views of the sea and rugged, unspoilt cliffs to Widemouth Bay.

On entering the cottage through the large porch, the guest is soon within an open plan sitting room/kitchen with a slate floor and large rug, lovely 3 piece suite and open fire. An oak staircase leads up to a spacious landing which has panoramic views over neighbouring farmland.

A double and twin room are found each with wonderful views.

Barton Cottage has the benefit of full central heating and an open fire.

Church Cottage
Sleeps 4 - Tariff from £200 per week

Church Cottage sits amongst a cluster of cottages in the ancient missionary site of St Gennys on the North Cornish coast.

The cottage has reversed accommodation so the spectacular view may be enjoyed from the open plan living-room. This room, with its open fire, provides a relaxing sanctuary after a day exploring.

A pine stable-door separates the living-area from the bedrooms below, acting as a sturdy stair-gate for the attractive pine staircase. Both bedrooms are delightfully furnished with terracotta tiled floors and scatter rugs.

Church Cottage has the benefit of full central heating and an open fire.

Woodgate Cottage
Sleeps 7 Adults + Cot - Tariff from £400 - £11200 per week

A characterful farmhouse, built in the 1920's set in 10 acres of ancient woodland. Each room overlooks staggering views of woodland and beyond this, far reaching hills and farmland – a spectacular position, very near to the South West Footpath.

Woodgate has a large sloping garden (leading down to the woods) where a dry stone well has been discovered which had been hidden for many years (this is covered and safe for children). A large patio outside this large house has garden furniture & a barbeque.

This sleeps 7 adults plus one cot (8 people if sharing).

The front porch leads into a hallway, to the left a large comfortable sitting room with a colour T.V., and to the right a second sitting room with a colour T.V. and open Victorian fire. Leading on is a dining room with a large window overlooking the magnificent views. An open doorway reveals a spacious kitchen with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine etc.

The stairs from the hallway lead up to the four bedrooms, one bathroom with bath and shower and a separate W.C. Two of the rooms (doubles) have en-suite shower and W.C. The other two rooms are twins.

This house has been completely refurbished and landscaped recently and is a very luxurious holiday home. Owls can be heard hooting at night, whilst Roe Deer and Badgers can be seen from the comfort of the house looking out onto the adjacent National Trust land.

Fabulous Wildlife &
Walking Breaks

Join a small group of like minded people on a spectacular North Cornish coastal farm to observe an array of wildlife and learn about the sensitive conservation management taking place on this special farm and have guided access into 2 large reserves.

Meals will be in the farm’s highly acclaimed restaurant.

Take part in an exciting nocturnal nature trail where we regularly have close encounters with badgers.

Much wildlife may be seen including birds of prey, seals, badgers and dormice, basking sharks and dolphins.

Wild flora and fauna at Trevigue is abundant throughout the year – here is a brief guide to what you might be most likely to see:

  • During the winter months i.e. mid September to late March, spectacular wildlife is to be seen.
  • White coated seal pups can be seen on the beaches, suckling their mothers during the Autumn months.
  • Badgers are easily observed right up until the end of the year. (May to November is the best time)
  • The cool winter/early spring months are a great time to see groups of seals from the cliffs at Trevigue whilst they are moulting.
  • Spring/late winter and early summer is a fantastic time to see the hedges, verges and ancient woodland around the farm alive with flowers. From late January (snow drops), February (daffodils), March (primroses), April (bluebells)
  • Swallows seem to return earlier each year and are numerous by mid/late April. Great fun is also to be had looking for young badger cubs who are venturing above ground and are more bold than their wary older relatives.
  • Mid-summer is my favourite time of year with badger cubs at their most confident and curious; together with the remarkable spectacle of the numerous fluorescent green lights of glow worms.
  • In recent years Francis and his guests have observed more basking sharks than ever before from the cliff tops – another sign of Global Warming, as they follow plankton further north. (May – September is the best time to see sharks).
  • During early Summer many wonderful sea birds, including guillemotts, razorbills and puffins are to be found in the immediate area.
  • Another spectacle of summer is the sight of roe deer bucks chasing does during the rutting season.
