Poldark Country
Porthcothan Bay and the suurounding coastline has recently featured as backdrops in the 2015 TV series "Poldark". The cast and crew from this very popular TV series spent three days in and around Porthcothan Bay - filming coastal scenes for the programme.
Porthcothan Bay
The Roundhouse is located less than a mile by car from the sandy beaches at Porthcothan Bay, which has a general stores and public house. Porthcothan Bay is part of the "seven bays for seven days" promotion along with the neighbouring beaches at Constantine Bay, Trevone, Harlyn bay and Treyarnon Bay.
Porthcothan Bay is a popular sandy bay with a small stream, running across the beach. The beach is sheltered by a headland with sanddunes located at the back of the beach. At low tide there are rock pools for the children to explore.
The stunning coastal rock formations at Bedruthan Steps (Carnewas NT) are approx. 2 miles by car.
From The Roundhouse, you can take a walk through the fields to the coastal path taking you to Porthcothan Bay, Trescore or Rocky Porthmeor. 15 - 20 minutes by foot to coastal path.
