The Location

Just off a quiet lane leading out of Treknow, the cottage is next to the public footpath to the beach.

It's about ten minutes' walk down the valley to the beautiful unspoilt surfing beach of Trebarwith Strand. Surrounded by rocky cliffs, the beach is available for six hours either side of high tide. At low tide the beach is wide and sandy, with some of the best surfing in North Cornwall.

Trebarwith Strand has one of the most dramatically-sited pubs in Cornwall, at the top of the cliffs above the beach. With outdoor tables and good food, The Port William is an ideal place to relax and watch the beautiful sunsets across the sea. Also, a few minutes walk down the hill from the cottage is the excellent Mill House Inn.

Local shops are a mile away at Tintagel village. Some food shops are open long hours every day of the week and accept cards and provide cash-back.

There are many places to visit in this part of North Cornwall - the beautiful fishing port of Padstow (home of Rick Stein), perfect harbour villages like Port Isaac, grand houses like Pencarrow and Lanhydrock and the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer Bay, Treyarnon and elsewhere. The Cornish Coast Path is a short walk from the cottage plus there is golf at Trethorne Golf Club and other outdoor activities like pony-trekking nearby.

If you've not been, the Eden Project is an essential visit; it's about 45 minutes' drive.
