Built in the 15th century, Polhilsa Cottage is thought to be the original farmhouse. Accommodating up to seven people + (2 on bed/settee), the cobbed walls provide the basis for a variety of features significant to such an old property.
Situated
at the entrance to the farm, the cottage is complimented by a courtyard
and its own enclosed garden ideal for total privacy and relaxation.
Guests are welcome to use vegetables from the garden when available
or indeed, herbs grown in the small herbery. Barbecues can be enjoyed
either at the cottage or indeed at one of the barbecues situated around
the lakes.
The warm open-beamed country kitchen is built around the feature of an old fashioned Rayburn which can still be used for cooking. A well-equipped kitchen containing electric cooker, microwave and fridge is available. Surrounding the kitchen is a bathroom with bath and built in shower, lobby and lounge/diner with open fireplace and T.V./Video.
Upstairs are three bedrooms. Situated on its own, bedroom one has a double bed and bed settee. Bedrooms two and three are interconnected. The second bedroom contains bunk beds and bedroom three contains a double and single bed. Sleeping is arranged not only to accommodate families but also groups who may wish to enjoy the fishing on either of the two lakes at Polhilsa. A cot is also available on request.
The cottage is available for rental on either a self-catering or bed and breakfast arrangement. Short breaks are also available. Please enquire for prices.
