LOCATION
The
fishing village of Port Isaac and the sheltered small fiord of Port Quin are both
1 mile from Westaway.
The coastal path from
Port Quin takes you to Rumps Point which is a haven for wild flowers, seals and
puffins can often be seen. This section of the Coast Path which is easily accessible
commands some of the highest cliffs throughout Cornwall and makes for exhilarating
walking.
Pentire Point overlooks the surfing
beach of Polzeath and a further half mile takes you to Daymer bay which is a perfect
family beach. Here you will find St. Enodoc Church where Sir John Betjeman is
buried. Carry on walking through the sand dunes to Rock where a foot ferry runs
continuously across the Camel Estuary to Padstow.
To
the east of Westaway lies Bodmin Moor which is known as the granite roof of Cornwall.
Exhilarating true moorland, a surviving wilderness. Explore Rough Tor with it
Bronze-Age settlements and the surrounding unspoilt time forgotten countryside.
