The Wellington Restauraunt

An historic listed 16th Century coaching Inn of great
character in a particularly beautiful part of Cornwall set in glorious
National Trust countryside and close
by Boscastle's picturesque Elizabethan harbour.
A warm and traditional welcome awaits you at
“The Welly” as we are affectionately known, both locally and
by our many guests who return time and time again.
The location is a perfect base for your holiday with
easy access to many of Cornwall's attractions, including the Eden Project,
the Camel Trail, Padstow and the rest of North Cornwall.
Whether you're looking for a relaxing weekend break with
maybe a few brisk hill walks around glorious National Trust countryside,
an exquisite meal in our fine restaurant, or just a glass of real ale
and home cooked food in our traditional pub, the Wellington is where
you'll find the comfort you need, served with care and always a smile!
Your Rooms
The Wellington has 15 rooms, each with en-suite bath
and/or shower and temperature controlled central heating. Tea and coffee
making facilities and a colour television are standard and radios can
be provided subject to availability.
Family rooms are available
together with a Video with children's videos on loan if required. We
also provide direct dial telephones, modem points or Internet access
via a wireless network.
The Wellington features two themed rooms named
after two of our most prominent guests. This is the Guy
Gibson room, named after Guy Gibson VC of "Dam Busters" fame,
who states in his book that the Wellington was his “favourite hostelry”.
The other is the Thomas Hardy room.
The Residents' Lounge
Our residents lounge is situated in the commemorative
turret at the front of the hotel where, from it's position on the first
floor, a fine view across the valley can be enjoyed. In the winter months
(or whenever there's a nip in the air) you willl always be welcomed
to the warmth and comfort of a traditional log fire. A perfect place
to take afternoon tea with homemade cakes and scones, or why not spend
some time reading or watching a movie?
The "Welly" Long Bar
Spend time listening to a local yarn amongst friends
under beamed ceilings around a real log fire (we'll spare you the fire
in the hot Cornish summer months) Enjoy a snack at the bar or a full
meal at one of many tables either in the bar area or in the new upper
gallery.
Bar Meals
Since the flood the Welly Long Bar has now been restored
and is even better than before but is still a traditional pub serving
real ales and fantastic pub food. All home cooked meals are freshly
prepared with specials such as locally caught Mackerel, Conger Eel and
Shark!
The Waterloo Restaurant
2AA Rosette Award

Head Chef; Scott Roberts
We hope that you will find our restaurant experience
something that little bit special ~ so much so that you will want to
return time and time again.
Our food just gets better and better... after moving
into the hotel in 2003 we decided that not only did we need to update
the surroundings, but the French style food needed to move onto new
dimensions.
Therefore we mix old and new, French and traditional
British to leave you with a mouth watering selection that we are sure
you will find a dish to remember.
The produce... is all locally
sourced. Our meat is from Button Meats of Michealstow who use
all locally reared Cornish cattle. The fish is from Bude and when the
seas are too rough locally we use fish from the south coast. The fruit
and vegetables are from DF Fruit supplies of Bodmin and when local seasonal
produce is available, we endeavour to use it no matter what the cost.
All our sauces, jams, chutneys, pickles, breads and chocolates are made
here so if you particularly like something, we're happy to check with
the chef if he has any available for sale!
