St Ives Holiday Accommodation
The converted cottage has been fully refurbished and equipped
but still retains many original features and charm such as beamed ceilings,
exposed granite walls with the original 'corbell' lip where pilchards
were pressed, stripped pine floorboards, logburner in the living room
and a lovely original cast iron fireplace in the twin bedroom. The bathroom
has a 'spa bath with jets' with a 'drencher' shower over with underfloor
heating and large heated towel rail. The cottage has full central heating
throughout.
The living area has 2 comfortable sofas and chair with a 32' LCD TV with
DVD and freeview. The dining area and kitchen have a slate floor, the
dining table is an oak refectory table with long benches which is a lovely
communal eating area. The kitchen is fully equipped with SMEG appliances
and granite worktops.
The bedrooms are also very comfortable with brass beds and antique pine
furniture with cosy feather and down duvets (alternative 'non-allergenic'
duvets are also available). The double bedroom has TV with freeview.
A central location perfect for exploring St Ives and the surrounding area,
right next to the lovely beaches, shops, restaurants, art galleries and
of course The Tate.
There is a public car park 50 yards from the cottage where you may park
- although a car is not necessary as St Ives has a main railway line and
good public transport.
Downalong St Ives
Downalong is a picturesque conservation area with a maze
of granite and slate houses and cottages, narrow winding streets and alleyways,
all leading to either the lovely beaches or the working harbour. Porthmeor
beach is a haven for surfers with golden sand and crystal water or Porthgwidden
is a smaller bathing beach where seals and dolphins are seen regularly.
The Tate Gallery is a 5 minute walk from the cottage and so to is the
Barbara Hepworth Museum.
Cornwall is known as the English Riviera, lying in the Gulf Stream with
warm waters and palm trees growing all year round. Valentine Cottage is
well situated for all local attractions.
