Porthmeor Beach is popular with with surfers and swimmers. Porthmeor is a safe sandy, safe beach on the North side of St Ives. The open aspect of the beach means that it is very popular with surfers - attracted to the Atlantic Swell, that creates ideal surfing conditions.
The beach has an an ideal location, close to the centre of St Ives with ample cafes, shops, traditional pubs and lots of art galleries. The iconic Tate St Ives building is adjacent to the beach, overlooking the Porthmeor Beach Cafe.

Porthmeor is one the best beaches in Cornwall, known for its excellent water quality; regularly being awarded the prestigious Blue Flag Award given in recognition of water quality, safety, environmental management and education.

Porthmeor in St Ives, offers stunning scenery and sea views; overlooking Porthmeor beach and The Island, the Tate gallery. Porthmeor is close to St Ives' other beaches, with the harbour beach, literally a few minutes walk through the 'Digey' ( old fishermans quarter). The Sloop Inn and the many other pubs and restaurants in St Ives' centre are 5 minutes away. The Zennor Cliff walk along the South west Coast Path starts at the bottom of hill just below Porthmeor View. St Ives has 5 lovely beaches all within a few minutes walk from the house. Porthmeor beach - in front of the Tate Gallery - is good for surfing and has a surf school, equipment hire & a fabulous beach cafe. Porthminster is a great family beach - very safe bathing & an amazingly good restaurant with roof terrace & wonderful views. The Harbour Beach is great for boats and the level golden sand makes it very safe.
