Self catering Holiday Cottage PortscathoEn-suite Bed & BreakfastPelyn Creek Cottage sleeps 4 peoplePelyn lies in its own grounds of 18 acres within a valley, beside a creek, which is an inlet from the Percuil River on the Roseland Peninsula. Our grounds consist of pasture, woods, over 3 acres of landscaped gardens and a wildlife pond. We have the best of both worlds, we are surrounded by wildlife yet within 5 minutes we can be on unspoilt golden beaches. Our main theme here at Pelyn is peace and relaxation - a place to unwind. PELYN CREEK COTTAGE The Cottage is reached by the same long driveway to the farmhouse and sits nestled in the valley adjoining the main house. Although it lies beside the house it benefits from its own private access from the upper part of the driveway- ensuring privacy for guests to come and go without notice. The Cottage is equipped and tastefully furnished to a high standard and has reversed accommodation to make the most of the beautiful countryside views from the upstairs windows. There is also a private patio area attached to the cottage with seating and a BBQ which can be accessed from the ground floor. Accommodation kitchen/living room: This is a large open plan room with a vaulted ceiling, open beams, slate floors and features a hand built painted kitchen at one end with a dining table that seats six. Amenities include: oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine / drier and microwave. The other end of the open plan room acts as the living room area and features two sofas - a 2 and 3 seater arranged around an old fashioned wood burning stove. There's a colour TV with DVD and radio. The French doors have stunning views across the valley and open onto a balustrade. Bedroom 1 Double room with a 5ft bed and access to the private patio/garden through a stable door. Bedroom 2 Double room with single beds that could be zipped together to create a double if required with notice. Local Area Coastal and woodland walks are on our doorstep and the mystical Pelyn Creek is at the bottom of our garden. Rumour has it that many years ago, Smugglers used the creek to ship in their cognac to hide at Pelyn, where there has been a dwelling place since the 11th century. It is easy to imagine all this, when you visit it, as the creek is full of atmosphere, wildlife which makes it a birdwatcher’s paradise!
The Roseland takes you back to a bygone era when seaside holidays were full of un-commercialised beaches and countryside to explore. The area benefits from unlimited walks, miles of golden sandy beaches and offers plenty of other outdoor activities including water sports. The picturesque village of St. Mawes is 10 mins drive away. From there you can take a pedestrian ferry to Falmouth where you can visit the Maritime Museum or choose any of the 'Fal links' boats to explore the area. Take the famous 'King Harry Car Ferry' from Philleigh across to Feock for a short cut to the City of Truro and surrounding areas. A few minutes drive away are unspoilt golden beaches where there are rock pools and coves to explore with gently shelving sand, safe for small children.
