Built over 120 years ago Maymear Cottage is at one end of a terrace of five cottages in the picturesque and friendly village of St. Tudy - birthplace of Captain Bligh of the 'Bounty'.
The cottage is approached from its own gravelled parking area to the front door opening directly onto a well equipped fitted kitchen with cooker, microwave oven, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.
A door leads through to the dining room with wood burner stove (an initial supply of logs is provided in the cooler months). To the rear is a cloakroom-cum-utility area with separate w.c. and washbasin and back door entrance leading up to an attractive cottage style garden with paved and lawned areas.
To the front is a cosy sitting room with colour TV and choice of open or electric fire. Stairs lead from this room to a landing, two bedrooms and a large bathroom with bath, overhead electric shower, w.c. washbasin and heated towel rail.
The sleeping accommodation is flexible with two 3ft twin beds that can be linked to form a double in one room and two 2ft 6in beds that can be linked to form a 5ft double in the other. Bed linen, linen and towels are provided. All rooms are heated by night storage and/or electric convector heaters and all electricity is inclusive.
The Holiday cottage is available for year round short breaks or longer stays. The arrival and departure days are flexible by arrangement with the owner.
Well behaved pets are most welcome provided they are kept off the furniture and are not left alone in the property.
Self-catering in North Cornwall - Maymear Cottage
Travelling to St. Tudy by road is just little over 4 hours from London and the Midlands and in the off season periods when the children are at school access around the county is much easier.
The village of St. Tudy offers a pub serving good value food and real ales, a community Post Office and shop selling most provisions, a 300 year old church and children's' playing field and a garden centre. It lies between the towns of Wadebridge, Bodmin and Camelford and is an excellent base for exploring the whole of Cornwall and Dartmoor.
The Eden Project and Padstow are both only half an hours' drive away.
Here are just a few ideas of the places of interest to visit and activities to be found nearby. There is a comprehensive folder in the cottage for guests to peruse and the owners will be happy to supply further information.
