St Ives
Whether you're an adrenalin-junkie or a culture-vulture,
St Ives offers both a sense of escape, and of inspiration.
Food for your soul: surrounded by water on three sides,
the views are stunning, whatever the weather. You would be forgiven for
mistaking our award-winning white sandy beaches, gently lapped by clear
azure-blue waters, for the Caribbean. Because of its warmer climate, this
resort has achieved all-year-round- popularity, making it an ideal base
for a late-summer or early-spring holiday.
Food for taste buds: St Ives offers some excellent eating
experiences. As you might expect, a number of Michelin-starred local restaurants
place a firm emphasis on high quality, locally sourced ingredients, with
menus changing to reflect the seasons. For example, local fishermen supply
crab and lobster in season; other fish is provided from Matthew and Son
in St Ives. You can always find somewhere to indulge in a sybaritic treat,
to enjoy local food in stunning settings.
Food for your creative senses: home of the world-famous
Tate Gallery, and of the Barbara Hepworth Museum, St Ives is now synonymous
with art and fishing. A thriving artists' community still exists and provides
a backdrop. In the tangle of harbourside alleyways, you can find a knot
of local galleries and artists workshops. In September, you can let your
creative juices flow and be fed by a melee of creative arts at the St
Ives September Festival.
Locally, when you've fed your senses on the creative scene,
you can wander along the rugged coastal path to Zennor, bird-watch at
the protected Hayle Estuary, or wander further afield to explore the Heritage
coastline; The Eden Project, or enjoy a wonderful helicopter ride to the
Isles of Scilly.
Go on, feast your senses!
