Delightfully situated cottage and house in an idyllic hamlet. South-facing gardens with path running down to the water's edge offering peace and tranquillity, in the very centre of Cornwall. The Nature Conservancy Council have made this part of the estuary 'a site of special interest'. At low tide fishermen can dig for bait and the ornithologist may quietly watch some 65 species of beautiful birds exploring the river banks. The heronry opposite will give hours of enjoyment whether you are inside the cottages or outside, having a drink and perhaps a barbecue while enjoying the panoramic views. Whether you want an active holiday or just a few days in the sun, the area is ideal. It is a walker's paradise. The sheltered waters provide a good base for the sailing enthusiast, and the river offers bass, mackerel, whiting and pollack to provide sport for the fisherman. There are scenic river trips from Malpas down to St. Mawes and Falmouth. Tennis courts, swimming pool, golf and a golf driving range are close by. With Truro, a cathedral city, only three miles away, you are able to enjoy excellent shopping and restaurant facilities. Malpas has its own Post Office and shop and the Heron Inn public house. Within easy motoring distance of your cottage you will find many sheltered sandy coves on the south coast, the picturesque Roseland and beautiful wooded Helford river, famous gardens and heritage properties. Riverside is ideal for fishermen, birdwatchers, ramblers, yachtsmen and families alike.
The house and cottage are joined to one another, with separate gardens, and share a path down to the foreshore. Both properties are equipped with colour TV and Video, fridge/freezer, telephone, iron and ironing board, garden furniture and portable BBQ. All rooms have river views, except two of the bathrooms, and either night storage or thermostatically controlled heaters. Cot and highchair available. Bedding and a weekly clean linen change are provided, but please bring your own towels and baby linen. Parking - Double garage opposite providing one parking space for each cottage, and ample street parking. Boating - For those bringing their own boat, there is a public slip in the village. Our deep water mooring is 300 yards down stream, or you can leave her on the shingle at the foot of our private quay. Alternatively, if you wish to hire a boat we can give you further details, or you can hire a rowing dinghy from us. Click here for information on our Lanwithan Manor Cottages at Lostwithiel |
