Porthallow is an attractive village situated on
the east side of The Lizard Peninsula just south of the Helford
River Estuary. The area is well known for its beautiful coastline,
sandy beaches and fishing villages with surrounding unspoilt countryside
and farmland. The village has a craft shop and also a public house, the
Five Pilchards, conveniently within staggering distance of the cottage.
Porthallow is a great place to fish either off the beach
or from the rocks on either side of the cove. At low tide, children will
enjoy the rock pooling and as the cove is usually quite sheltered, swimming
and messing about in boats is great fun. Meanwhile funnel watchers
will enjoy the views in and out of

Mullion Cove (great for fishing off the harbour wall or exploring
the nearby caves)
