Churchtown is Vitalise's (national disability charity) accessible Centre for adults and children with physical, sensory and learning disabilities. Guests may come to the Centre independently or accompanied by a carer. A carer must accompany any children between the ages of 6 and 12.

Located in the beautiful village of Lanlivery, near Bodmin, Churchtown is easy to get to, with excellent transport links, and provides a gateway to the many attractions of Cornwall. Close to the Eden Project, Lanhydrock House (National Trust), Lostwithiel Golf Club, the Cornish coast and the delightful working port of Fowey, Churchtown has a lot to offer. Set within a tranquil environment and surrounded by attractive countryside, the 12-acre grounds have well-kept gardens, a small working farm, nature reserve, maze, outdoor terrace with barbeque, heated indoor swimming pool, and licensed bar. Whether you want to simply relax, or are ready for an outdoor challenge, we have the break for you!

Churchtown Self-Catering Lodges

Within the grounds of Churchtown there are two modern purpose-built self-catering lodges, which are available for bookings all-year round. These are ideal for disabled guests who wish to take a break away with family or friends and visit the stunning Cornish countryside at any time of year.

Each lodge sleeps six people (or eight, if put-up beds are used), has full wheelchair access and is furnished to a high standard. There is a fully equipped kitchen, diner and lounge. One of the bedrooms has a motorised ceiling hoist and an en-suite bathroom with a roll-in shower. Both lodges have covered verandas with seating areas - perfect for alfresco dining!

Please Note:

  • No care provision is included at the Lodges.
  • Guests staying in the lodges may use the Centre's indoor heated pool but no supervision, excursions, or activities are included in the price of these breaks. The lodges are self-catering and no meals will be provided by the Centre.
  • A security deposit of £100 against damage is payable on arrival, and is refunded on departure.

Churchtown Activity Breaks

Between April and October, Churchtown offers activity breaks for groups, schools or colleges in accessible, dormitory-style budget accommodation. During these months you can choose from a range of accessible activities including canoeing, archery, abseiling and rock climbing, which are run by our qualified staff. Group visits to local attractions may also be arranged at an additional charge. No care provision is available for group bookings however, and care requirements must therefore be catered for by the group. Only the ground floor of the accommodation is wheelchair-accessible.
