Farm trail
Bolster Farm lies to the south of St Agnes Beacon.
The land is divided into small fields by Cornish hedges. The
Farm Trail takes a circular route through these fields with
open views to the sea and surrounding countryside.
Longer walks
There are many extended walks from Bolster
Farm into the surrounding landscape. St Agnes Beacon is a
10-minute walk, with wide ranging views over land and sea.
The coastal footpath is 20 minutes walk and includes beautiful
cliff top scenery with interesting flora and fauna. Other
walks through the St Lawrence valley and along the beaches
at Chapel Porth, Trevaunance and Trevellas are within easy
reach.
Residential courses
These courses are designed to be non-intensive
short courses and will run in the spring and autumn. Each
course comprises three half-day sessions in our own workshop,
run by David and Niki Lillie. Accommodation will be either
at Bolster Farm Cottage or at local farm-based B&B/Self
Catering.
Costs will range from £120 to £180
including materials. Afternoons will be available for visits
to gardens, galleries and the local landscape.
Local area
The village of St Agnes is an attractive, traditional
Cornish Village with a thriving community and steeped in mining
history. There are plenty of shops selling local produce,
arts and crafts and places to eat and drink. Bolster Farm
is ideally situated to visit the many places of interest in
this part of Cornwall.
The natural beauty of Cornwall
The Cornish coastline is no doubt one of the
most beautiful and dramatic in the country - from its pretty
harbours, to the stunning rugged cliffs and vast sandy beaches
which are popular for surfing.
A visit to St Michaels Mount, Tintagel
or West Penwith will not disappoint those who wish to explore
the unique qualities of the Cornish coastline. Trebah Gardens
and the Eden Project are just two of the interesting horticultural
attractions in Cornwall.
Cornish heritage and the arts
A popular destination for visitors is the Tate
St Ives, with its modern architecture and Barbara Hepworth
sculpture garden. Exhibitions at the Tate and the many other
galleries in the area, offer a wide variety of inspiration.
The Minack Theatre is situated in the open air
on the cliffs overlooking the sea at Porthcurno. Also in West
Cornwall, Geevor Tin Mine illustrates the countys industrial
heritage in a spectacular coastal setting.
For families there are a number of theme parks
and educational leisure attractions such as the Blue Reef
Aquarium, Newquay Zoo and the national Maritime Museum, which
is located on the Falmouth harbour-side. Newlyns Pilchard
Works is another interesting heritage museum.
