Welcombe Mouth Beach is within walking distance (20 min.) or is accessible by car (0.75 mile). It has a waterfall, rock pools and lots of sand at low tide. Washed by the Atlantic twice a day, it is a very clean beach. Berry Park is well worth a visit at anytime of year, but is especially nice in the mild temperatures of spring and autumn, when the children are still in school, the roads are relatively quiet and access around Devon and Cornwall is easy.
You can enjoy the spectacular scenery around Welcombe that makes it the perfect venue for those who enjoy coast and country walks. Berry Park borders the Marsland Valley which is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) and an officially designated area of outstanding natural beauty. It is home to much rare wildlife including red deer, otters and buzzards. Numerous wild flowers abound, especially in the springtime when bluebells carpet the woods and it becomes hard to believe that orchids are rare. In autumn the area produces a rich variety of mushrooms and toadstools.
