Cottage Accommodation 7 Thomas Street is a mid-terrace 19th century original fisherman’s stone cottage situated in the heart of Porthleven village, approximately 200 yards from the harbour. The accommodation is situated on three levels, comprising beamed lounge on first floor with stone fireplace and multi-fuel stove, night storage heater, TV (with Free-view channels), dvd player. Leading from the lounge is a new extension forming a small double bedroom. A steep staircase (mind your head!) leads down to a large, recently refurbished, well-equipped all electric kitchen with fridge-freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble-drier and iron. Leading from the kitchen is a modern bathroom with bath and shower, toilet, washbasin, airing cupboard and heater. On the second floor there are two bedrooms, comprising one double-bedded room and one single with bunk beds. PLEASE NOTE: We do not consider our cottage to be suitable for the physically infirm or toddlers, as the staircase from the lounge to the kitchen and bathroom is extremely step. Porthleven Porthleven is a pretty unspoilt fishing village situated approx. 3 miles from the market town of Helston, which has a large range of shops (including an out of town Tesco), restaurants, public houses, sports centre and boating lake. Its biggest tourist attraction is 'Flambards' Theme Park and is also famous for its Floral Dance in early May. The Lizard Peninsula The Lizard Peninsula has something to offer for all ages. The beaches are arguably the best in the country both for swimming and surfing; the coastal walks are breathtaking, especially in early May when the wild flowers are at their best. Lizard Point, the most southerly point of Great Britain, with its spectacular cliffs, is only 4 miles away. Also within easy reach are the Helford River, Falmouth with its newly opened National Maritime Museum, St Michael's Mount, Penzance - day trips to the Scilly Isles by boat or helicopter - Lands End and St Ives with the Tate Gallery a must for modern art lovers. Whilst you are in Cornwall please go to The Eden Project at St Austell - don’t miss it - you won’t be disappointed. As you would guess, this area has many excellent sea food restaurants and there is a particularly good one in Porthleven, down by the harbour. |
