St AgnesThe west tip of Cornwall has more hours of sunshine than many southern areas, and Woodlands is an ideal centre for quiet relaxation or for exploring the natural scenic beauty and characteristic towns and villages of Cornwall. About half a mile away from Woodlands, the centre of St. Agnes offers several cafés, restaurants, pubs, craft shops, surf shops and galleries. On the edge of town, heading towards Truro, the free museum is well worth a visit. St Agnes was once an important part of the tin and copper mining industries in Cornwall, and many of the old engine houses and mine workings can be seen. Much of the television series, Poldark, was filmed around this area. Not far away at Blue Hills at Trevellas Porth, you can visit the last remaining tin streaming works. | |||
