The Watersend house (Pendowr House in Cornish) is the only privately-owned detached house in its own grounds in Watergate Bay available for holiday rental. We have spent the last 9 years upgrading this lovely 19th century Victorian home which is enjoyed by many families who return year after year to The Watersend, captivated by its warmth.

The house comprises 1 master bedroom with sea views, 2 double bedrooms (one with bunk beds) and a twin room, sleeping 12 guests in total. There are 2 modern bathrooms, 1 with bath and separate shower on the first floor and 1 with shower only on the ground floor. There is also a separate cloakroom on the first floor. The duvets and pillows are all anti-allergy and we provide spare blankets and hand towels.

There is a large south-west facing lounge with a wood-burner for those chilly winter nights, Sky TV with Free-view, WiFi, a DVD player and Hi-Fi. For rainy days, we provide games and a small book & magazine library. The fully fitted kitchen-diner has all the mod cons plus an Aga. The dining room seats 12 people and leads out to the tranquil conservatory which enjoys the sun nearly all day.

For babies and toddlers there is a child stair-gate at the bottom of the main stairs and a high chair in the dining room. A travel cot is provided and there are buckets and spades for your children to enjoy on the beach during your stay.

As we have dogs ourselves, watersend is dog friendly as we realize how important it is to be able to take your dogs on holiday with you to share the fun of the coastal walks and sandy beaches. We just ask you to do the poo patrol as it would be unfair on our cleaners, gardeners and other guests!
We have a local caretaker who is just a phone call away if there are any problems during your stay.

The property sits in one and a quarter acres of beautifully landscaped gardens which are full of rare and unusual plants and flowers. There are lawned areas to the front and rear of the properties with a barbecue area and picnic tables. Two streams run through the gardens; follow the pathways leading down to the ponds and you will see rare lilies, wild Lavateria, flowering yucca plants, a plethora of bamboo (which we are trying to eradicate!) and giant Gunnera Manticata (giant rhubarb!)

Watergate Bay

Watergate Bay is a stunning 3 mile-long sandy beach (at low tide) with a dramatic coastline. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and remains un-spoilt by major development.

The reliable rollers make Watergate Bay popular with surfers 365 days a year and in the summer months it is very safe for swimming and dogs are allowed on the beach all year round. It is a great spot for coastal walks and a photographer’s dream with breath-taking views from the cliffs. Watergate Bay is an ever-changing pleasure as the sands shift with each tide, from tabletop flat to desert dunes.
