THE LIZARD PENINSULA
Trevone House is a renovated Edwardian house,
built by a local sea captain 100 years ago. It has been tastefully modernised
with new kitchen, bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms. Situated at the
head of the Helford River, Gweek is also the home of the National Seal
Sanctuary, which is a short walk from us, on the north shore of the Upper
Helford.
There are many attractions close by, including
the beautiful gardens of Trebah, Glendurgan and Trevarno. The National
Maritime Museum is only a few miles away at Falmouth, with Goonhilly Earth
Station equally close, on the Lizard Peninsula.
We are ideally located for exploring the many
local sandy coves and beaches, and walking the South West Coast Path.
Anywhere on the Lizard Peninsula is only a few minutes drive
away, including Helston and the beautiful harbour village of Porthleven.
Falmouth is 7 miles and Truro 16, with the equally beautiful Roseland
Peninsula, across the Carrick Roads from Falmouth, easily accessible across
the King Harry Ferry, recently voted one of the 10 best ferry crossings
in the world.
St Ives, Penzance, Lands End and much of the rugged north
coast are also less than an hour away, and don't forget to visit Marazion
and St Michael's Mount on the way, or on the way back. A range of maps
and books of local interest can be borrowed for the day, if required.
