Trenannick Cottages - Cornwall
The three acre grounds include attractive lawned gardens with picnic tables and barbecues, a large playing field with swings, perfect for children to get together and let off steam in safety, and a copse for the exercising of dogs. This is a haven for walkers or those who want the tranquillity of the countryside, yet be within a few minutes' drive of delightful North Coast beaches. Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven are both within a short drive. The former is ideal for surfing. For eating out, the local pub is within three miles, but for a greater selection of restaurants Bude is approximately ten miles away. Here, there is a popular golf course in close proximity to the beach and during the summer there are a wide variety of seasonal attractions. Other places to visit along the coast are Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Padstow and Clovelly. The cottages are central for large areas of National Trust coastal walks, just a few miles from the rugged Bodmin Moor and within easy reach of numerous lakes and reservoirs with water sports, fishing and nature reserves. Inside these cosy cottages there are open beamed ceilings (an occasional peril for those over five foot ten inches!). Interesting floor to ceiling trusses lean drunkenly, adding a depth of character to the rooms. The furnishings are comfortable with floral fabrics enhancing honey pine furniture and wood burning stoves set in granite fireplaces. The use of local polished slate and stone throughout these cottages make a pleasant contrast to today's modern homes. Yet the Olde Worldliness does not extend to the modern kitchens and the shower rooms. Homely touches of plants, pictures and pretty ornaments and the warm welcome of a roaring fire to greet you on those chillier days all go towards making these adjoining cottages, and the little district of Warbstow, a perfect retreat for those who wish to explore the upper reaches of the North Coast of Cornwall and Devon.

THE ROUNDHOUSE COTTAGE - Converted from the building that once housed the machinery that ground corn, etc., and was operated with the help of a horse walking in a circle - hence the name! Standing to the rear of the main building, with its own drive and garden, it has the same Olde World charm as the other cottages; a particular feature having been made of the huge oak beam running through its centre. Night storage heating and double glazing also make the cottage cosy. The Roundhouse was originally converted for the user of a wheelchair. All rooms are on one level, doorways are wide, and the shower is roll in, with grab rail. There is one bedroom with twin beds, but because the kitchen/diner and lounge are spacious enough for four people and there are two toilets, a sofa bed has been provided so that four people may be comfortably accommodated. Facilities and Services Entrance porch; bedroom with twin beds, N.S. heater; shower room with WC and wash basin, electric heater; separate WC; Lounge with colour TV, N.S. heater; kitchen/diner with electric cooker and hob, microwave oven, fridge, washer/dryer and N.S. heater.
