Our aim is to help you have a successful and enjoyable vacation with a comfortable room at the end of the day and an excellent breakfast to give you a good start. Fresh fruit salad, cereals, locally baked breads and home-made yoghurt, jams and marmalade are included with our English breakfast. When available we like to use local produce Tremont House is a large family house with spacious rooms within walking distance of the River Fowey and all amenities of the ancient town centre of Lostwithiel. Situated only a few minutes walk from the railway station, London to Penzance line and the National Express Coach stop, makes this an ideal location to take a break away without the car and one can explore the rest of Cornwall by public transport. Enjoy the Old Town atmosphere and browse around the lanes of the ancient Stannary Town of Lostwithiel with its antique shops, local art and craft shops and tea rooms or sit by the medieval town bridge, watching the tide rise across the stony river bed where the sailing barges used to load tin for far away destinations. Explore the legends of the moors, ancient stone formations, history of tin mines and the caverns of slate quarries, or the tranquil walks around Restormel Castle, river creeks and woods. A 15 -20 minutes drive will bring you to the craggy coastal paths and secluded beaches and coves of the south Cornish Coast. Visit the renowned Eden Project, which only 5 miles away. Along this coast you can discover the quiet bays and spectacular scenery that is quite different from other parts of Cornwall. The rivers and estuaries of the Fowey valley provide an abundance of wildlife and flowers; as you walk along the many footpaths, discover the tranquil atmosphere of these special places. Touring by car - Lostwithiel is central to exploring further into Cornwall or Devon. Explore the legends of the moors with their ancient stone formations, history of tin mines and the caverns of slate quarries, the legendary home of King Arthur at Tintagel, or tranquil walks around, river creeks and woods and reflect on smuggler's tales. Directions: From Liskeard - take the A38 to Dobwalls by-pass onto then turn left at traffic lights A390 to Lostwithiel, signposted St Austell. Go through the town to where there is an escape road on the right. At the top of the escape lane turn right into Scrations Lane and Tremont House is the second house on the right. |
