…. further afield
The quaint fishing town of Padstow is some four miles away. Here the river Camel meets the sea. The estuary is a haven for all kinds of watersports including sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing where qualified instruction is available. The railway to Padstow was opened in 1899 and the cuttings bordering the estuary still echo to the sounds of the "Atlantic Coast Express" bringing happy holidaymakers from Waterloo. The trackbed, The Camel Trail, is now open to walkers and cylists who can enjoy the magnificent scenery to Wadebridge or beyond to Bodmin. Bikes of all shapes and sizes are available for hire.

Only a few yards away with spectacular sea views, is the excellent Trevose 18 hole Golf Links which also has a long and short 9 hole course for the novice.

…. a place for all seasons
The weather in Cornwall during the early and late times of the year is mild and can be dramatic, after a quiet walk along the coastal path watching the autumn and winter seas and stunning sunsets, treat yourself to some good old Cornish hospitality by a log fire in the local Inn

Spring comes early and the area is a colourful spectacle of wild flowers along the estuaries, winding lanes and hedgerows. The wild life pausing on the riverbanks and shores before they continue there journey. The National Trust houses and gardens open after the winter break, look at their best for the early visitors.

The roads are relatively traffic free during the school term times and travelling is easier now, the improved roads from London and the Midlands means you can be starting your holiday or short getaway break in about 4 - 4 ½ hours. Touring the whole of Cornwall is so easy, Lands End in the West, or Fowey on the South Coast are all with easy reach.
