The Riverside is a very special house which offers far more than one would normally expect from holiday accommodation and so it is the perfect place for you and your friends to enjoy a wonderful break together. The property has been lovingly and tastefully decorated to ensure a relaxed and very comfortable environment for you to spend your holiday. The stone-floored kitchen is very well equipped with an Aga, a companion electric cooker, two fridges, a freezer, three sinks and a Miele dishwasher; there is a fabulous, long oak table with plenty of chairs for you and your friends. The sitting room has an open fire, a cupboard full of board game, a television, dvd and video players and a stereo system. There are 6 double/twin rooms, all with their own bath/shower-room; plus two small bunk rooms for children; every room has a television, radio and hairdryer. Outside there is a delightful terrace, adorned with pretty flowers, with a long table (made from the old roads in Bali, which were wood!) from which to watch the world go by. The terraced gardens that surround the house are delightful and above the property (and next to the spacious car parking area) there is a small lawn with a picnic table. |

But that is not all When you arrive you will find your beds made up with freshly laundered sheets, flowers in the house, toiletries and towels in the bathrooms and a Welcome Pack in the fridge. Furthermore, the cleaning and the bed making will be done for you (except on the staff day off) and you won't have to clean the house before you go so there is none of that frantic cleaning normally associated with the end of a self catering holiday!! Taking the housework out of a holiday means you can really get on with doing the things you want to do on holiday. And there is plenty to do in and around this part of Cornwall. There is a separate laundry room with washing machine and tumble drier. There is also a "wet room" for hanging walking/sailing/outdoor gear. Boats From April to October the boats are available if you would like to take to the magical waters of the Helford River. There is a Cygnus 19 (which is a fishing boat) its tender, Lulu, and a Wayfarer sailing dinghy plus a Laser 1. The Helford River is spectacular. Spend time discovering hidden creeks and beaches, including the famous Frenchman's Creek (immortalised by Daphne du Maurier), which is impossible to get to by road, accessible on foot, but even easier by boat! Or if you moor at Durgan, towards the mouth of the river, you can walk up through the hamlet (owned by the National Trust) to Glendurgan (with its intriguing maze) and the beautiful Trebah gardens (which now boasts an excellent café and art gallery in addition to the garden shop). Helford The picturesque village of Helford is built around a creek off the Helford River and enjoys restricted access to traffic, ensuring that it remains peaceful all year round. It is small and delightfully free from tourist shops, boasting only the real necessities i.e. a good traditional pub (The Shipwrights Arms), a friendly shop (if you would like to place an order before your arrival do call them on 01326 231275) and the Sailing Club (which we recommend guests join as temporary members (01326 231006). Helford is situated on the east side of the Lizard Peninsula - a gloriously unspoilt and uncrowded part of Cornwall. As the UK's most southerly location, and with the influence of the Gulf Stream, the weather tends to be milder here than in the rest of Britain. The Lizard Peninsula's beaches, coves, spectacular stretches of dramatic coastline, enchanting harbours, thriving fishing communities and picture book villages, all combine to make the area truly memorable for everyone who visits. |
