The Hayloft is in the heart of the ancient village of Lerryn, overlooking the tidal river (a tributary of the River Fowey) and the Stepping Stones that appear at low tide. With woods on both sides of the river there are beautiful walks all year round, which are believed to be the inspiration for Kenneth Grahame’s “Wind in the Willows”. Lerryn is five minutes from the ancient Stannary town of Lostwithiel and ten minutes from Fowey, the well known harbour town. It is ideally situated for visiting the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, the Tate at St Ives and Padstow. There is a pub in the village and the fabulous Lerryn River Stores (and Post Office) selling everything from washing powder to award winning sausages. The Hayloft is forms part of one of the oldest buildings in the village. Its front door leads upstairs to the sitting room, with views over river, and wonderfully comfy arm chair and sofa. There is a TV with built in DVD and a radio/CD, both of which are digital. The slate floored kitchen has a ceramic hob, with an electric oven, a microwave, washing machine/tumble dryer, iron and ironing board and everything you might need in the cupboards (hopefully). . The Hayloft comfortably sleeps two adults (and a baby) in its king size bedroom, with adjoining bathroom, and wonderfully powerful shower. The sheets, from the White Company, are the most fabulous Egyptian cotton percale (the duvet, pillows and towels are all the White Company too). You will find a sewing kit and hairdryer in the chest of drawers. It has its own outside seating area on the village green, next to the Boat House, overlooking the river. It is lusciously furnished and sparkly clean. Parking is meters from the door and once inside you will find soothing muted colours, slate floors, a window seat with the softest, squashiest cushion. It will be a hard choice - will it be hiring a kayak to go to Lostwithiel for lunch and then back for an ice cream. Or if you are lucky enough, it may pour with rain, giving you the chance to lie back, watch a film or the view, or take life’s greatest luxury, an afternoon snooze. Then maybe drag yourself out for supper. |
