The Creek is in the heart of the ancient
village of Lerryn, overlooking the tidal river (a tributary
of the River Fowey) and the Stepping Stones that appear at
low tide. With woods on both sides of the river there are
beautiful walks all year round, which are believed to be the
inspiration for Kenneth Grahame's "Wind in the Willows".
Lerryn is five minutes from the ancient Stannary
town of Lostwithiel and ten minutes from Fowey, the well known
harbour town. It is ideally situated for visiting the Eden
Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Maritime Museum
in Falmouth, the Tate at St Ives and Padstow. There is a pub
in the village and the fabulous Lerryn River Stores (and Post
Office) selling everything from washing powder to award winning
sausages.
The Creek forms part of one of the oldest
buildings in the village. Its front door leads upstairs to
the large, slate floored, open plan sitting room, allowing
you to cook while enjoying the view. If it’s not your
turn to cook, you can lie in front of the log burning stove,
before laying the table. The sitting room leads to the balcony
(which overlooks the river) with its table, parasol and directors
chairs.
