T'Gallants
Guest House is situated on the edge of the historic little port
of Charlestown, which is a conservation area, and faces south out
to sea.
ACCOMMODATION
A fine Georgian house, T'Gallants has
been completely renovated and refurbished, with seven double letting
rooms, a dining room. To the front of the house is a walled garden
overlooking the harbour.
We provide bed and breakfast, morning
coffee, light lunches and afternoon teas are served in the tea room
or in the garden.
CHARLESTOWN
The name of the house originates from
Top Gallant, referred to as T'Gallant. This was part of the sails
of a square rigged sailing ship.
In bygone days, these ships were visible
from the house when Charlestown harbour was filled with such vessels.
The harbour itself is now a base for
a small fleet of square-rigged sailing ships, all of which are sea-going
and are frequently used for film, television and promotional work.
There is a beautiful coastal footpath
encompassing St. Austell Bay, that passes some two hundred and fifty
yards from T'Gallants and the Heritage Centre and Shipwreck Museum
are only one hundred yards away. In addition there is also a
harbourside pub, four restaurants and a post office.
An excellent centre for golf, (the
house is within two miles of three courses), fishing, walking or
just relaxing in the peace of the village.
Adjacent to the harbour are two pebble
beaches and the leisure complex at Carlyon Bay, with its
huge beach, is just a mile away. Porthpean beach and sailing club
are a short walk along the cliff path.
The wonderful Eden Project is
just three miles away and the Lost Gardens at Heligan just
six miles.
