Self catering cottage in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall

Sleeping upto 4 people in two bedrooms

Situated within a few minutes walk of the golden sandy beach lies Tamarisk Lodge, offering excellent views of the North Cornwall coastline and only 15 minutes drive from Padstow. The newly renovated cottage provides all home comforts in addition to stunning panoramic sea views and views of the Lanherne Valley.

Tamarisk Lodge is the perfect location for beach lovers, hikers experiencing the cliff paths and panoramic sea views, and for walks up the valley to explore the Japanese Gardens near the village of St Mawgan. Cyclists should head for the Camel Trail with ever-widening estuary views and plenty of bird-life. You can rent a bike (complete with trailer for the youngest family members) at Wadebridge or Padstow. For the golfers, Merlin Golf club with its driving range is also nearby.

Away from the coast, the village name recalls Cornwall's Celtic past with cosy pubs huddled beneath the windswept highlands. Our guests will find in surrounding areas inns serving Cornish ales and West Country cider, fishmongers selling bass, mackerel, crab and lobster, delicatessens stocked with Cornish cheeses and clotted cream and bakeries piled high with pasties and saffron cake. Just 100 yards from Tamarisk Lodge lies the famous public house "the riv" with its mouth watering menu and a children's play area.

Directions

Travel on either the M5 or A303 to the West Country. This will in turn bring you to the A30 (signposted Okehampton, Bodmin). When the dual carriageway ends continuing on the A30 you will travel through a small village called Victoria. Just after this you will travel under a brightly marked railway bridge. Take the next turning on the right sign posted Airport and Mawgan Porth. At the St Columb roundabout, go straight across and take the A3059 sign post Newquay. Just after you pass a petrol station on your right take the next turning to the airport. After passing the airport on your left continue on the road to a T-junction, turn right onto B3276. This leads to Mawgan Porth. Follow the road for approximately 1 mile where the road becomes steep and Tamarisk Lodge is on your right (warm sand colour).
