Ropewalk is opposite a row of artists studios next to the Penwith gallery. The building has been thoughtfully converted, where once pilchards were stored, now becomes a place for the car and beach gear. The first floor has been transformed into an open plan living space, with a solid oak floor. The addition of central heating means it remains warm and cosy during winter breaks.

On entering 1 Lower Saltings you are immediately struck by the outstanding view over Porthmeor beach. Unusually the whole length of the open plan room follows the line of the beach, providing uninterrupted views from every angle. Porthmeor is famous for its beautiful sunsets and the large window seat is the perfect spot for catching the final few rays.

The apartment is situated in the conservation part of St Ives, down the slipway and through the double wooden doors into the courtyard, to one side is the rare addition of a parking space. Walk through the stable door and into that perfect view.

Furnishings are warm and welcoming, underfoot you will find a real slate floor. The kitchen contains all the mod cons you will need during your holiday. Whilst the central heating and thick granite walls will keep you warm and toasty, fantastic to watch the stormy seas whilst snuggled up inside.

Thornleigh is only 2 miles from the coast, and a 20min drive to St Ives. It is well situated for touring the best of cornwalls attractions being close to both Porthleven, Helston and Praa sands. It is positioned between the Lizard and Penwith peninsulas and a 20 min drive to the Helford and Falmouth.

Thornleigh is secluded and detached surrounded by a beautiful garden containing mature trees and shrubs. Refurbished for 2008 it provides comfortable accommodation for 8, and is situated next to the famous estate gardens of Godolphin NT. and Trevarno. The house is beautifully presented, providing every modern comfort inside; a brand new kitchen with wood block surfaces and slate floors, a large dining room with a table seating 10. The generously proportioned living room is full of light from the south-facing garden. The décor is calming and natural, with sisal flooring and colours echoing the partially exposed granite walls.

There are 4 bedrooms, a couple overlook the pretty garden, another is dual aspect and has great views of an old tin mine and surrounding fields. One of the two bathrooms contains a spa bath for a blissful soak.

Thornleigh is well placed to visit all the fabulous parts of Cornwall, yet provides a delightful haven away from the busy crowds…
