PORTHTOWAN
Porthtowan has its own bars and restaurants including the
nationally acclaimed "Blue Bar",
and have several others in the near vicinity There is also a post office,
convenience store, fast food shop and ice cream parlour and several surf
shops.
A multitude of activities and amenities are within walking
distance including beautiful coastal walks in both directions, either
to Portreath, Godrevy, Gwithian, Hayle
and onwards to Carbis Bay
and St. Ives for the more energetic, or the alternative direction of Chapel
Porth, St Agnes, Perranporth and Newquay.
Chapel Porth can also be reached at low tide, by walking
along the beach. In addition to the impressive sandy beach, Porthtowan
has it's own salt water natural rock swimming pool, which can offer a
welcome feature to many parents and children.
Nearby, Cornwall's major attractions are all within easy
reach, including many botanical gardens, i.e.
Trebah and the Lost Gardens of
Heligan, Lanhydrock and
of course The Eden Project.
