Rock Cottage is a family owned and unique 16th century
detached property, standing alone on the shores of the unspoilt
Helford River, offering superb accommodation for a maximum of six
persons with three bedrooms.
Most rooms overlook the large garden, the Mawgan
Creek of the river and its surrounding ancient oak woodlands. The
beamed sitting room with its original cob walls, window seats and
inglenook, is perfect for relaxing. All rooms are extensively furnished
with comfort in mind and have full central heating by radiators.
From the kitchen window one may watch the many birds
that visit or just contemplate the ever-changing view. In order
to explore and enjoy the seclusion of the river, a rowing dinghy
is provided.
ACCOMMODATION
Rock Cottage has been in our family for over 50 years
and during this time hundreds of people have taken the opportunity
to experience a holiday in this idyllic place. We ensure that the
facilities meet today's expected standards, and provide quality
and value for money, together with many 'home from home' comforts.
We have built a fine reputation and many of our guests return each
year and recommend us to their friends and family.
- The beamed Sitting Room is fully
carpeted and furnished with a comfortable three piece suite, dining
table, chairs and an oak sideboard. A colour television, VCR,
DVD and a music system are supplied. There is also a collection
of books relating to the Lizard area and Cornish history to enjoy.
- The Kitchen with its wonderful view
has a walk-in pantry, and is fitted to high standards. There is
a washing machine, dishwasher, built-in double fan assisted oven,
electric hob with hood, large fridge/freezer, microwave and many
other kitchen essentials. All household requirements are in place.
- The bathroom is ideally situated
on the ground floor off the entrance hall. It has a full white
bathroom suite with over-bath electric shower, radiator, razor
socket and deep recessed window sill for storage.
- An open-tread wooden staircase from the sitting
room, leads to the landing and two bedrooms. Both of these have
superb unspoilt views of the Helford River.
- The triple aspect Master Bedroom
has a polished wooden floor with rugs and is furnished with a
comfortable king size bed, oak dressing table with large mirror
and matching chest of drawers, fitted double wardrobe, oak bedside
tables and pottery lamps.
- The second bedroom is suitable for
younger persons, has a polished wooden floor, two single 2'6"
beds, and oak chest of drawers. The immersion heater is off this
bedroom.
- A few paces from the front door, across a slate
courtyard is the Garden Room. Formerly another cottage,
this spacious and airy room is well decorated and has two single
3' beds with double size quilts for extra comfort and luxury.
It is furnished with Shaker style combination wardrobe, dressing
table, bedside cabinet, lamp and armchair. There is also a combined
colour TV and VCR. Three large windows overlook the sun patio,
garden and River.
- The terraced garden with its many species of birds
and wild flowers, is secluded. It is a perfect place to relax,
paint or enjoy a barbeque. Down the stone steps to our jetty you
will find 'Peggy', an 11ft rowing dinghy, useful
for exploring the meandering wooded creeks. One may also catch
sight of the White Egrets, Swans, Shellducks, Kingfishers and
many other water birds.
- Fishing is also a pastime some visitors enjoy
from either the jetty or dinghy. Children love to dangle lines
for river crabs. For those visitors who wish to bring their own
small boat, we can supply a mooring in the channel. Canoeing is
also very popular.
- A holiday at Rock Cottage offers something
for all age groups and interests. We look forward to welcoming
you to our exceptional holiday home.
