We endeavour to be as green as possible without compromising on the comfort of our guests. Wood burning stoves, fuelled from our woods, are carbon neutral and supports our central heating system. Much of our refuse is recycled or composted. Energy efficient light bulbs reduce our electricity consumption, and ecologically friendly laundry and cleaning products are kind to our rivers.
We endeavour to support local food suppliers and use much of our own produce, minimising food miles and ensuring the freshest and best quality products. The cottage and gardens are set in a SSSI along the River Allen, our organic approach to gardening supports the wide range of wild flora and fauna to be found. LEISURE ACTIVITIESWhether you stroll through our gardens, relax by the salmon stream or venture out, Polrode Mill Cottage provides a tranquil setting from which to base your holiday. Whatever the season, Cornwall has much to offer from the rugged seas of winter, the snowdrops of spring, followed by primroses, daffodils, bluebells and then the stately rhododendrons heralding the start of summer. Enjoy the many sandy beaches and coves or beautiful walks of the National Trust coastline, the Camel estuary or Bodmin Moor. The region has been designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty and offers a wealth of interest to ornithologists, ramblers and those who love the countryside and the rugged beauty of the Cornish coast. The Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the houses and gardens at Lanhydrock, Pencarrow and Prideaux Place and the mythical castle at Tintagel are only a short drive away.
