The Old Carthouse

This stone building, which was once used for housing farm carts, has been tastefully refurbished to a high standard, with much care being taken to preserve its original features; each room having a pitched and trussed ceiling, creating a feeling of spaciousness - yet remaining warm and cosy - equally welcoming at any time of the year.

The Old Carthouse is situated in two acres of meadow, amid rolling Cornish countryside: standing at the head of an old smuggling route, where an ancient right of way leads you to Polperro's little harbour. It is also just a few miles away from the bustling fishing port of Looe with its many pubs and restaurants.

There is also a wealth of wildlife such as badgers, foxes, rabbits and squirrels. Buzzards and larks are a common sight; and a barn owl can often be seen quartering the meadow nearby. This is an ideal hideaway for 'honeymooners' or for a romantic break on that special occasion.

For those who are more energetic, there is golf, sailing, fishing and horse riding nearby, whilst walkers can experience the dramatic coastal scenery along the Southwest coastal path from Plymouth west towards Land's End. This is an area of Outstanding Natural beauty, and offers a huge number of places to visit - the Fascinating Eden project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Land's End, Cape Cornwall and Sennen Cove, to name but a few: it is also a place for a restful holiday, where you can enjoy the peace, quiet and privacy.
