LOCATION
The cottage is a short 5 minute walk to the bustling town
centre, which is home to 4 public houses, at least 10 trendy restaurants
and cafes, a beautiful park set beside the river and a quaint cinema.
For those of you that enjoy pedal power, Wadebridge
is the central point for the 3rd most popular tourist attraction in the
whole of Cornwall: the Camel Trail. A picturesque flat cycle
route that runs in one direction to Bodmin, where people can sample
the delights of the Camel Valley Vineyard or push on to the Borough Arms
public house that serves food all day.
In the opposite direction the cycle route weaves along
the camel river completing the route in beautiful Padstow, where
a day can be spent fishing, crabbing or venturing onto the exhilarating
speed boats that whisk you out of the estuary. A more leisurely boat ride
can be taken on the Jubilee Queen which leaves Padstow for Puffin
Island several times a day.
The ancient but busy fishing port of Padstow offers
an assortment of shops and restaurants that are nested around the stunning
harbour. TV celebrity chef Rick Stein has enjoyed seeing his empire
expand in Padstow to 4 restaurants and 3 shops; all are a pleasure
to visit, booking for the ever popular Stein's fish restaurant
is recommended.
An all year round ferry provides transport to the opposite
side of the estuary to the extremely fashionable Rock: the area
is renowned for the watersports it has to offer, such as sailing, water
skiing and wind surfing.
If a water crossing does not rock your boat! the popular
village of Rock can be reached with a 10 minute drive from the
cottage. If land based activities are more appealing, the area is proud
of its numerous golf courses, several of which are straggled by
exquisite beaches.
Overwoods Cottage is situated only 15 minutes drive from
the aptly named 'seven bays for seven days', so a different beach could
be visited each day; 2 of the beaches, Trevone and Treyarnon,
have natural rock pools deep enough to swim in.
The coastal paths provide breathtaking scenery and
wonderful walks that have become popular all year round.
North Cornwall is now very accessible with improved
road links, Bodmin Parkway railway station is a 20 minute drive from the
cottage as is Newquay airport.
