Widemouth Bay - North Cornwall
New College Barn sleeps 2 people
New College Barn is a newly completed Grade-II listed barn
conversion situated in the pretty village of Week St Mary. Tucked away
behind New College, the Barn forms part of the historic Old College complex
originally founded by Lady Percival in 1506.
The Village is just 3 miles (as the chough flies) or 5
miles by road from Widemouth Bay and the rugged North Cornwall coast with
its fantastic beaches, amazing scenery and glorious coastal footpath.
Bude at 6 miles distance is an ideal place to shop, eat out and sample
specialist local produce. The village itself is surrounded by beautiful
rolling hills and magnificent scenery, with a well stocked local store/post
office, 2 pubs and a lovely old church.
The Barn has been equipped to a very high standard yet
retains many original features. Slate floors, old beams and the benefit

LOCATION
The village of Week St Mary has an interesting history
and contains the site of a Norman Castle, a magnificent church built in
1643 and the Old College buildings. Old College was built in 1506 as a
free school, one of the first to be built in England by a woman. New College
and New College Barn are adjacent to Old College and were built to accommodate
teachers for the college. New College has examples of dressed granite
jambs and tympani built into the walls.
Bude and Widemouth Bay are both within a few miles and
offer fantastic beaches, plus access to the coastal footpath. Both are
popular with families and surfers and provide excellent facilities (including
tuition, hiring of equipment and wetsuits). Other beaches within easy
reach are Crackington Haven, Trebarwith, Polzeath, Newquay and Daymer
Bay.
