Crackington Haven Cottages Crackington Haven is in an unspoilt and uncommercialised area, designated as an The coastal footpath between Widemouth Bay and is one of the most spectacular stretches in Cornwall. Leading out to the coast are deep, wooded valleys, most of which are accessible by public footpaths.At Widemouth Bay there is a splendid expanse of sandy beach; Millook has a quiet stretch of rock-bound pebbled shore abounding with prawning pools and lobster hides; and the beach at Crackington Haven is of sand, pebbles and rock pools, with dramatic National Trust coastline to the north and south. The quaint village of Boscastle with its natural harbour, and Tintagel with its castle and legends of King Arthur, are a short drive away down the coast. Nearby are facilities for pony trekking, angling, surfing, wind surfing, golf and, of course, walking along the lanes and sheltered, leafy valleys and on the coastal footpath. Nearby pubs serve dinner, basket meals and cream teas. There are tennis courts at Crackington Haven, and a newly-built local cinema within a few miles. The Mineshop Cottages are in the parish of St. Gennys just a short drive to the beach at Crackington, St. Gennys Parish lies on the dramatic and spectacular stretch of coast between Bude and Boscastle, an area designated as of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and within the Heritage Coastal Belt. From Mineshop a footpath leads through the wooded valley to Crackington Haven, one mile away (one and a half miles by road). Here there is a sandy bathing and surfing beach, with rock pools, where mussels, limpet and cowrie shells may be discovered and prawns hide in the seaweed fringes. |

A single storey cottage in a peaceful wooded valley, converted from an original blacksmiths shop it stands on the bank of a stream with its own access from the road and private car parking and lawned area. There is a seclude patio area in traditional Cornish Blue slate. The old granite water trough still stands on the lawn. |

A single storey cottage a short distance upstream from the Old Smithy, it also stands on the bank of the stream in the wooded valley. Built partly from stone it was a former 'Shippon' ( Milking Parlour), it looks across the stream into the woodland facing south and west. The paved area outside the door catches the summer sun from morning to evening. This cottage has one double bed room and two bedrooms that each have two single beds in, there is also a wood burning stove which is especially nice after a bracing walk early or late season. |
