LOCAL
CORNWALL
Cornwall has the most spectacular coastal scenic path in
Europe.
From just below the house, which overlooks St Ives Bay,
walkers can enjoy the magnificent cliff scenery towards St. lves and Zennor,
a little further is The Gurnard's Head pub where a pleasant lunch can
be taken before going on to Sennen and St. Just.
In the opposite direction, past the beaches of Porthkidney
and Hayle estuary to the 14th c. St. Uny's church in Lelant. Godreavy
Head with its lighthouse, beach, seal colony and outstanding cliff paths
north to St Agnes and beyond is just 6 miles away.
Some 35 mins. south take the path from Mousehole to Lamorna
or, from The Lizard to Kynance Cove and on to Mullion and you will see
the most astonishing rock formations anywhere - this scenery is breathtaking.
There are excellent eating places in Mousehole, Lizard Village or the
unforgettable Cadgwith Cove Inn on The Lizard.
Everywhere there are fine sandy beaches, Carbis Bay beach
is a 4 min. walk from Lucerne, with snacks available at the Beach cafe.
Surfers from across the world come to ride the Atlantic waves at beaches
nearby. Local eating places - La Casita, Atlantic Waves and the Cornish
Arms pub.
Walk the charming cobbled streets of St. Ives with its
culture of handcrafted gift shops. Visit the famous Tate St. Ives and
The Barbara Hepworth museum. Eateries such as the Pedn Olva or the Portminster
Beach restaurant, among many, are a treat.
Near Lands End enjoy the magical experience of the world
famous open-air Minack Theatre and Cafe perched on the cliffs of Porthcurno
surrounded by magnificent scenery.
Visit the rocky pyramid of St Michael's Mount opposite
Marazion. Accessible by boat or walk the granite causeway at low tide.
Follow up with an unforgettable meal at the 17th century quayside Ship
Inn at Porthleven or the White Hart Inn at nearby Ludgvan.
Take the opportunity to explore the magnificent variety
of Cornwall's gardens and its historic houses.
The Eden Project with its vast biomes and delights of the
Natural World is only 45 mins. away to the north.
Directions
Take the M5 south. At Junction 31 take the A30 for St Ives,
Cornwall (110 miles). At the roundabout to St Ives take the A3074, where
you immediately come to two roundabouts close together. Go through the
first one and at the second take the right hand road (still the 3074)
through Lelant and on to Carbis Bay and St Ives. After the Carbis Bay
sign on the left hand side as you enter the Village you pass a set of
traffic lights. Take the second on the right after these lights into Boskerris
Road. (If you reach the roundabout to Tesco's supermarket you have gone
too far). Follow Boskerris Road down, until you reach a narrow unsigned
side turning on the left, just before the Boskerris Hotel. Turn into this
road and Lucerne is second on the left.
