Lower Dutson Farm Holiday Cottages

You can be assured of a warm welcome at our working family farm with cattle and sheep, where you may watch or join in with some of the farming activities. Guests are welcome to walk around the pretty
coarse-fishing lake and along the river Tamar that borders three of our fields, where you might see a kingfisher, heron, buzzard or deer. Historic Launceston with its Norman castle, south gate arch and unique granite carved church is two miles away. We are centrally placed for visiting Dartmoor, Bodmin Moor, National Trust houses and gardens and the beaches and harbours of Devon and Cornwall. There is an 18-hole golf course, leisure centre with swimming pool, riding stables, steam railway and large garden centre all within three miles of the farm. There is also an otter sanctuary and Trethorne Leisure Park with ten-pin bowling and golf driving range nearby. The area offers a wealth of family inns,
excellent restaurants and clotted cream teas!!! We are only two miles from a supermarket to stock up on provisions. Our holiday cottage has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and separate lounge. Two doors lead outside, one to the garden and the other to where the car can be parked.

Midway between Dartmoor and the Cornish Moors our farm is on the Cornish side of the river Tamar. Two miles from Launceston, known as the "gateway" to Cornwall with its Norman Castle, Southgate Arch and unique granite carved Church. This is a great location for exploring Cornwall and West Devon. The beaches and harbours of Devon and Cornwall are easily accessible, as are numerous National Trust houses and gardens.

Guests are welcome to walk through the fields, the pretty coarse fishing lake and along the banks of the river Tamar which borders three of our fields. You may even see kingfishers, herons, buzzards and deer. Play fetch with Fly and Bess our sheepdogs. They will be pleased to see you.

Swallows Cottage
(Sleeps 6) Tariff - £250 - £695 per week

  

This cottage offers the benefits of up to date comforts and amenities whilst retaining the character and charm of a traditional 17th century Cornish long farmhouse. Two bathrooms one with bath the other with shower and three bedrooms. Double glazed throughout the cottage has three storage heaters. The back door opens out onto the patio with garden furniture and barbecue, which can be a nice suntrap. Park outside the door.

Meadow Cottage
(Sleeps 8) Tariff - £250 - £715 per week

  

The accommodation is spacious with three bedrooms double glazed throughout. With a second toilet and shower downstairs. The backdoor opens onto the lawn where there is ample parking. A gate leads into the meadow where guests are free to wander around the farm, with its lake and riverside walks. Patio with picnic table and barbecue, pleasant views of the Tamar Valley countryside with Dartmoor in the background. Five storage heaters are included in the price. Snooker table and a few games and toys for that rainy day!! (Linen available for hire.)

Coarse Fishing
We have a three-quarter acre coarse fishing lake, each swim is different with various depths and angles. The fish stocked are; mirror and common carp, (weighing double figures) crucian carp, tench, bream, perch, rudd and roach. There is no closed season. Ample parking right by the water with toilet block.

River Fishing
The river is the lower farm boundary between Devon and Cornwall and has a good number of pools along it’s 1.2km stretch. Trout and grayling may be caught as well as salmon if the river is running to a good height.
