Leave the hustle and bustle behind you. Turn inland from the picturesque village of Mousehole, proceed along a winding lane flanked by Cornish hedgerows and you will arrive at the ancient hamlet of Kerris, where the sense of history is tangible. Steeped in time, Kerris `the fortified place' in the old Cornish language, has been a settlement for over two thousand years, with the oldest existing building dating back to medieval times.

Enjoy a slower pace of life with a Cornish family at Kerris Farm, where visitors have been made welcome since 1968. Sue and Geoffrey offer friendly; relaxed and informal accommodation. Their spacious farmhouse built in the nineteenth century, has been lovingly restored and decorated to enhance the original features; Central heating and en suites ensure a cosy and comfortable homely environment. The farmhouse has a southerly aspect and splendid rural views. Peace, tranquillity and truly dark nights for stargazing typify the Kerris experience.

Choose from two bedrooms, each very spacious and offering excellent en suite facilities, including large shower trays, power showers and heated towel rail. A flat screen colour digital TV, hairdryer and a range of drink options are also provided.

The `Trevelloe Room' enjoys splendid rural views across green fields towards Trevelloe woods. On the horizon the land dips and curves towards Lamorna valley.

The `Garden Room' looks out over a well established walled garden where camellias and old-fashioned white roses flourish. In the distance, over the slate roof of the granite barn, can be seen the church tower of St Buryan.

Guests are invited to relax in the comfortable farmhouse lounge where original beams, inglenook fireplace and log burner add to the ambience.

Breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the front garden, which features a Victorian `Ha Ha' bank and extensive views across the meadow to the fields beyond. In summer birds such as house martins and swallows are a common sight, darting back and forth as they feed their young.

The Giles family have farmed and milked cows at Kerris for three generations. At the present time we run a dairy herd of approx. 50 Friesian cows. In addition to the farm animals we have our family pet cats and dogs that live and roam freely outside the farmhouse.
