Higher Laity Farm, located between Redruth and Portreath
in Cornwall, offers a selection of quality self catering
cottages in Cornwall. We are situated 1 mile from the old
Mining Port of Portreath, on the North Coast of Cornwall, with its
rugged, breathtaking and unspoilt scenery.
Higher Laity Farm is a working farm. We have an organic
suckler herd of South Devon cattle, all naturally reared on our
60 acres of grassland. Our cottages, which were renovated in 2003
offer the perfect holiday accommodation solution for your holidays
in Cornwall.
The proximity of Higher Laity Farm to the A30 makes
it an ideal base to explore Cornwall. The cathedral City of Truro
is just 8 miles away and offers excellent shopping and nightlife.
The seaside towns of Falmouth and St Ives, homes to the National
Maritime Museum, and the Tate Gallery, respectively, are no more
than 25 minutes drive away. Going further afield, but within easy
drive of Higher Laity Farm, you will find major attractions in Cornwall
such as The Eden Project, and the renowned Heligan Gardens, approximately
50 minutes drive away.

Our barns have been tastefully converted with their
own unique character. Exposed wooden beams and pine floors in some
of the cottages, together with the high standard of furnishings
throughout, adds to the quiet, country feel. The gas “wood-effect”
stoves (The Loft and Trotters), bring their own special warmth and
welcoming effect, to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Full gas heating and double glazing throughout, makes
them the perfect holiday destination, all year round. Each holiday
cottage is fitted with a country–style kitchen, to include a full
size gas cooker, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge-freezer and microwave.
In addition each barn comes fully equipped with a colour television,
video recorder, hi-fi system , and a selection of board games. Bed
linen and towels are provided at no extra cost. Cot (excluding linen)
and highchair are available on request. All gas and electricity
is inclusive in the price.
The grounds have been carefully landscaped, and each
barn has its own patio with barbeque and seating area. Ample off
road parking adjoins the cottages and will allow two cars per cottage.

Portreath in Cornwall
The area of Portreath offers a perfect setting for your holidays
in Cornwall. The farm is ideally situated to take advantage of both
the spectacular North Coast and the surrounding countryside, being
within easy reach of the great beaches of Portreath and Porthtowan,
which like many inlets on this northern coast are very popular with
surfers.
We are ideally placed for those wishing to explore on foot, with
the recent upgrading of The Mineral Tramways Coast to Coast path,
which retraces the routes used in transporting tin from the mines
around Chacewater to the busy port of Portreath. The beach at Portreath
is on the popular South West Coastal Path, which boasts a rugged
coastline like no other, together with spectacular, breathtaking
scenery. Jackdaws, birds of prey and seagulls nest in the rough
cliff faces near the beach, and cormorants, grey seals, dolphins
and even whales may also be seen.
