ACCOMMODATION
There's loads to explore on the Lizard but whilst
at The Hen House do:
- Make some time to relax in our own wild flower meadow.
- Take tea by the pond edged with arum lilies (left au natural
to encourage wild life!)
- Share traveller's tales at the end of a day's exploring
on the fairy lit courtyard patio
- Retreat to the summerhouse at the top of the meadow to
wonder at the fabulous view of the stars.
- Join us in an informal complimentary tai-chi workshop
each day
- Reflexology and reiki healing are also available in our
Serpentine Sanctuary.
Only minutes away you can explore the
meandering still creeks of the Helford estuary, wonderful
cliff top walks, quiet coves and golden beaches or amble through
the rich verdant rolling hills unique to this part of the
Lizard.
For the active there's diving courses (The Manacles
dive site is the best in the U.K), surfing, horse riding,
wind surfing, golf , sea fishing and boat hire all on the
doorstep.
Within an hour's drive you will find 24 National
Trust sites, many other gardens to visit thanks to the wonderful
climate and reserves protected by English Nature.

To
protect the natural environment The Hen House uses only eco-friendly
cleaning products,no pesticides or fertilisers on our grounds
and garden/ food scraps are composted for use on the allotment
& flower beds.
We use local produce for our wholesome breakfast
platters,local building merchants and local garden centres
for plants rather than national chains.
The Hen House harvests rain-water for the pond
and watering of vegetable & flower beds,has low flush loos
and aerating valves on showers.
We have a towel card policy,a minimum stay of
2 nights and we reward guests who stay for more than 3 nights
with a discount-all to reduce waste water and detergents.
We re-cycle all paper,cans,glass,plastics and
cardboard and encourage guests to help us in this aim.
We provide calico shopping bags for guests
use,jute bags for their room re-cycling and buy re-cycled
goods where we can, from loo rolls to office paper, table
glasses to ink cartridges.
We provide loads of local information on best
eateries,pubs,shops and craft shops To conserve oil we have
the latest technology oil fired boilers giving instant hot
water rather than heat tanks and we have a low consumption
diesel car that can take a high percentage of bio-deisel We
have low energy light bulbs throughout,garden lights on timers
and are on a green tariff from our electricity supplier.
Bed linen and curtains are 100% cotton and carpets
are rich in wool even down to the under-lay.
We are Ambassadors of the Cornwall Sustainable
Tourism Project,Gold Award holders in the Green Tourism Business
scheme and over the winter months teach sustainable tourism
to other businesses.
