Three lovingly converted barns surround a courtyard garden which is fairy lit at night. Each barn has its own stable or french door opening directly onto the garden.

There are two acres of grounds which include a wild flower meadow with apple orchard, our hen enclosure, a duck pond with 6 ducks, our wild life pond and some planted beds in the courtyard area with seating and loungers provided throughout.

We are just a mile from the local fishing cove & coastal path, very close to the picturesque Helford river and creeks but hidden away in a tiny hamlet in amongst daffodil and agricultural fields. It is an oasis of peace, quiet and bird song.

  • Bask in the sun on the loungers in our wild flower meadow
  • Relax and watch the ducks antics at the pond's edge
  • Re-fresh each day with a free tai-chi workshop (optional!)
  • Soak in the blissful waters of the wood fired hot tub
  • Enjoy sumptious breakfasts of local produce carefully prepared and served
  • At night share travellers tales around the blazing chiminea in the courtyard
  • Gaze at the fantastic star-scapes in the clearest darkest skies
  • Reward your self with a Reiki or Reflexology session in our Serpentine Sanctuary

About The Hen House

We are Ambassadors of Green Tourism and take all steps possible to minimise our effect on the environment where we have chosen to build out home and business. We reduce, re-use and re-cycle whilst providing a 4 star quality environment.

We use local supplies for food, garden goods and building materials. P.V. panels provide electric and solar thermal panels provide hot water. We love to sing, gig row and take part in amateur dramatics as part of the community.

We garden without use of pesticides, rainwater harvest, keep chickens and ducks for their golden yolked eggs and grow as much of our own food as we can.

The magical Lizard Peninsula, a designated Area of Outstanding Natual Beauty is quite unspoilt with huge areas managed by The National Trust and Natural England and virtually the entire coastline being sites of Special Scientific Interest for the geology, flora or fauna. The scenery is stunning whether touring by car, striking out around the coastal path or a more gentle stroll around one of the many circular routes you can find in the walk books and O.S. maps we loan. Explore the sandy beaches, meandering river estuaries, cliff top vistas and fishing coves. Marvel at the fantastic geological structure of the land, the rare species of flowers & insects and birdlife in the area. Surf, sail, kayak, fish or dive-whatever takes your fancy. Horse ride, windsurf or play golf-all within a short distance. Visit the art galleries, potteries, craft workshops, museums and attractions we can recommend. There are gardens at Trebah, Glendurgan, Bosahan and Bonython and a plethora of well stocked garden centres to browse. A little further afield you will find Trengwainton, Trerice, Lanhydrock, Trewidden, Heligan and The Eden Project.
